At CatCow Studio, every move we make is inspired by a vision—a drive to create, connect, and grow. Our recent relocation to Portland, Oregon, is no exception, and we couldn’t be more excited to share the journey that brought us here.

From humble beginnings in Wisconsin

CatCow Studio was born in 2018 in the heartland of Wisconsin, a place where creativity was nurtured by the simplicity of life and a strong sense of community. Our founders, Kelly and Damian, didn’t know the first thing about running an animation studio, but they had a vision of creating a place where artists could turn their talents into careers. Those early days taught us the importance of working hard and staying authentic, values that continue to shape everything we do.

It was in Wisconsin that we won our first ADDY Awards, most notably the Best in Show award for our music video, Chemo for Christmas. And many of our clients still hail from the Dairy State (and our family will never let us transplant our roots completely!)

Expanding to Denver

As we grew, we moved to Denver—a city we had lived in as young professionals and one that gave us new opportunities and allowed us to reach more clients while balancing family life in a vibrant and thriving community. Denver helped us solidify our voice and expand our horizons, but as time went on, we began to dream of something different—a place where we could reconnect with nature and find fresh inspiration.

It was in Denver that we connected to Jammy Man, a local bluegrass band whose music video we’re itching to release in the winter of 2025.

A global team with a local focus

One of the things that makes CatCow Studio unique is our global team. We’re proud to collaborate with a producer based in Argentina, a storyboard artist in Taiwan, and an animator in New Jersey. This international perspective enriches our work and allows us to bring diverse stories and styles to our clients. Yet, despite our global reach, we’ve always been committed to fostering a sense of local connection wherever we’re based.

Portland feels like the perfect home for CatCow Studio. The city’s down-to-earth vibe and lush greenery resonate with our values of authenticity and growth. Portland’s creative energy fuels our passion for storytelling, while its proximity to nature inspires us to think bigger and dream bolder. It’s a city that encourages both innovation and balance—two things we strive to bring to every project we take on.
